The First National Bank of Izard County is warning residents about scam letters falsely claiming to be from the bank.
According to a notice from the bank, the letters use alarming language such as “FINAL NOTICE” and ask recipients to call a toll-free number about their property. Some versions reportedly include a fake “allocated waiver” for $199 to make the document appear legitimate.
Bank officials said the letters are not from the institution and that it is not affiliated with any company sending them.
Residents who receive a similar letter are urged not to call the listed number or provide personal information. Instead, the bank advises contacting them directly using the official number listed on its website or by visiting a local branch.
The bank also encourages reporting the scam to the Federal Trade Commission or the state attorney general’s office.
For questions, residents can call the First National Bank of Izard County at 870-297-3711.
