Obituary: Larry Allen “Monkey” Jones

Larry Allen “Monkey” Jones, 71, of McCrory, Arkansas, formerly of Tupelo, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Woodruff County Health Center in McCrory. He was born in Newport on July 7, 1954, the son of the late Thurman and Bernice (Vickers) Jones.

On February 28, 1975, Mr. Jones was united in marriage to Carolyn Kay Wallis. They were blessed with nearly 42 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2017. Mr. Jones dedicated 31 years of service to Tupelo Planting Company before his retirement. He was of the Christian faith and, in recent years, attended Morton Baptist Church.

Mr. Jones enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, gathering pecans, and preparing meals for others. In earlier years, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and searching for arrowheads. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Vickers, and a sister, Betty Runyon.

Mr. Jones is survived by his daughter, Beth Jones Way and her husband, Dustin, of McCrory; two brothers, Frank Jones and wife, Amy, and Lynn Jones and wife, Lori, all of Judsonia; four sisters, Wanda Wilson and husband, Danny, of Tennessee, Brenda Dooley of Illinois, Thurna Spray and husband, Randy, of McCrory, and Pat Little and husband, Jimmy, of McCrory; a granddaughter, Lanie Kay Loggains and husband, Nathan, of McCrory; a great-grandson, Lawson Loggains; a grandson, Blayze Way and wife, Shayna, of McCrory; a great-grandson, Jaxsen Way; along with numerous extended family members and friends.

Friends may visit on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tupelo Assembly of God.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Tupelo Assembly of God with Bro. Greg Dewitt and Bro. Ken Chipman officiating. Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery at Auvergne.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Joe Hardin, Matt Hardin, Will Hardin, Bubba Stracner, Andy Wallis, and Randy Wallis. Honorary pallbearers are

Roy Clark, Harrell Clark, Frank Jones, Lynn Jones, William Ladd, Bill Lewis, Jimmy Little, Michael Runyon, Rickey Simpson, Dustin Way, and Talmage Whitehead.
