Lonny B. Patterson, 91, of Newport, passed from this life on October 5, 2025.  He was born July 10, 1934, to Iona Patterson and Pearl Hattchett.

Lonny proudly served his country in the United States Navy for three years, an experience that shaped his life and remained one of his proudest accomplishments. He deeply loved his time in the Navy and often shared stories of his service with friends and family.

After his military service, Lonny followed his passion for cooking and became a talented chef. Over the years, he brought joy to many through his food, earning a reputation for his flavorful dishes—especially his famous gumbo, which became a favorite among everyone who knew him. Whether cooking for a crowd or preparing a quiet meal at home, Lonny poured love and care into every recipe.

When he wasn’t in the kitchen, Lonny enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, where he found peace and reflection.

Lonny will be remembered for his warm heart, his sense of humor, and the way he made every gathering better with his good food and good company. His love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lee Arthur Patterson and Lewis Patterson; his sons, Lonny Patterson Jr., Charles Patterson, and Herman Patterson; and the mother of his children, Fannie Patterson.

He is survived by his daughters, Debra Patterson Trimble (Rubin) of Georgia, and Carolyn Patterson and fiancé Clifford Bell of Texas; his devoted sister, Rose Patterson of Conway; his devoted niece, Patricia Bullock (Arthur) of Maumelle, and his devoted nephew, Reginald Richardson of Newport; his special friend, Ann Stevenson of Newport; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons and nephews.  Honorary pallbearers are Willis Hampton, David Hall, and Terry Williams.
