The Batesville School District says an email from an unknown sender prompted an increased law enforcement presence across its campuses Monday, though authorities later determined the threat was not credible.
According to a statement from the district, officials immediately reported the email to law enforcement. The district worked with the Batesville Police Department and the Independence County Sheriff’s Department, which concluded the message posed no credible danger. Similar emails have reportedly been sent to school districts nationwide.
District officials said all safety protocols were followed, and law enforcement agencies maintained a heightened presence at schools out of an abundance of caution. The district emphasized that student safety remains its top priority.
Parents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact their child’s principal.
