Obituary: Peggy Jane (Penix) Davis

Peggy Jane (Penix) Davis of Searcy, Arkansas, formerly of Newport, departed this life on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born September 21, 1933, in Tuckerman, the daughter of Samuel B. Penix and Ruby Mae (Hanley) Penix.

Mrs. Davis was a 1951 graduate of Tuckerman High School. On December 26, 1951, Miss Peggy Jane Penix married Mr. Raymond G. Davis. Together they made their home in Jackson County, where they raised two children, and enjoyed their life together for 73 years.

Mrs. Davis owned and operated Village Youngland for several years. Later she began working alongside her husband at Davis Alignment and Farmer’s Elevator.

Mrs. Davis was an active and devoted lifelong member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ.

Mrs. Davis will be lovingly remembered for her love and devotion to her family, spending many hours enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and the kindness she shared with everyone.

She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel B. Penix, Sr.; her mother, Ruby Mae (Hanley) Julian; stepfather, Luther Julian; one brother, Sam B. Penix; and one sister, B.J. James.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Raymond G. Davis; two daughters, Julie Davis Bledsoe and husband, R.M. of Newport, and Jane Davis Floyd and husband, Mark, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Watson and husband, Nate, Alex Floyd and wife, Stacy, Alan Floyd and wife, Janelle, and Karoline Floyd Ettinger and husband Edouard; eleven great-grandchildren, Annie Watson, Rhett Watson, Cole Watson, Rahely Floyd, Westin Floyd, Linley Floyd, Tristan Floyd, Londyn Floyd, Aurelia Ettinger, Juliette Ettinger, and Emeline Ettinger; one sister, Mary Francis Hanson; and a lifetime of friends.

Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery with Ryan Wilson officiating.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are R. M. Bledsoe, Mark Floyd, Alan Floyd, Alex Floyd, Nate Watson, Rhett Watson, Cole Watson, Tristan Floyd, and Westin Floyd.
