Juna Beth Ridenhour (Moxley) of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2025 (All Souls Day), at the age of 85. She was born on June 26, 1940, in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Lonnie Olen Moxley and Ruth Jernigan Moxley.
Juna was raised in a Christian home. She committed her life to the Lord and was baptized in the Newark Church of Christ in Newark, where she was raised. She remained an active and devoted lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Juna graduated from Newark High School in 1958. Her parents, Lonnie and Ruth Moxley, grew up in the Great Depression and due to the shortage of employment opportunities in Arkansas, they moved to Phoenix to find work. As World War II began, the Moxleys moved to Lawrence, Kansas, where Lonnie worked at the ammunition plant for the war. As the war ended and employment opportunities in Arkansas improved, the family moved to Newark.
Juna married John A. Hulshof, Sr., and together they made their home in Independence, Missouri, where they raised three children until they were divorced. In 1987, Juna married Walter C. Ridenhour. They lived in Raytown, Missouri, and enjoyed a life together for 37 years until Walt passed away on July 25, 2024. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Together with Walt, their blended family grew to include six children, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She delighted in the time she spent caring for and being active in all of their lives.
In addition to being a homemaker, Juna held several jobs to help support her family. Later, she joined the General Services Administration (GSA), where she worked until retirement. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Kansas City Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 2, where she served in many positions, working her way up to Commander of her chapter. It was here that Juna and Walt made several lifelong friends together. In her spare time, Juna was a member of the Sweet Adelines, singing bass and competed in numerous local, regional, national, and international competitions. She also loved gospel music.
Juna was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie O. Moxley; her mother, Ruth E. (Jernigan) Moxley; husband Walter C. Ridenhour and ex-husband John A. Hulshof Sr., her grandsons, Chad Hensley and Christopher Hulshof.
Juna will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. Those of us who knew her well will always recall her beautiful smile, her positive outlook and the kindness she shared with everyone.
While her greatest joy in life was her family, this was second only to her love of the Lord, and she has now returned to His calling.
Juna is survived by her three sons: John A. Hulshof Jr. (Karen) of Belle Vista, Arkansas, Kenny O. Hulshof of Kansas City, Missouri and David M. Hulshof (Amanda) of Leawood, Kansas; sisters Brenda Sturdivant of Newark, Arkansas and Marion Ardrey of Newport, Arkansas; grandchildren: Bentley E. (Hulshof) Blake, Ian D. Hulshof, Lauren G. Hulshof and Reid M. T. Hulshof, Nicole (Hulshof) Worley and Cassie (Hulshof) Miller; Christina (Ridenhour) Barnum and Jessica Ridenhour; Jacob Taylor, Joshua Taylor and Jessee Taylor; Emilie (Hensley) McKinney and Jordan Hensley; great-grandchildren: Callie and Scotty Blake; Briana Wilson, Tanner Wilson and Dylan Wilson; Caiden Miller, Tyler Miller and Allison Miller; Zaydan Ridenhour; Evan Hulshof; Titus Taylor, Finnley Taylor, Elsie Taylor, Elowin Taylor, Elora Taylor, Zaylee Taylor and Andrew Taylor; Sophia McKinney and Oaklyn McKinney; great-great children and a lifetime of friends, including Sylvia (Carlton) White of Scottsdale, Arizona and Newark, Arkansas.
