Plane lands safely after reporting cabin fire at Batesville Regional

A small aircraft landed safely at the Batesville Regional Airport on Wednesday evening after reporting a fire inside the cabin while approaching the runway, according to initial reports.

Emergency crews were alerted by radio traffic at 5:03 p.m. after the pilot reported the fire. Responders were instructed to stage at the terminal while the aircraft continued its approach.

The plane touched down without incident, and no injuries have been reported.

No information has been released about the aircraft’s origin or if Batesville was its intended destination. (UPDATE: According to FlightAware, a flight that originated from Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois, at 3:52 p.m. landed at 5:05 p.m. at Batesville Regional Airport.)
