
A Tuckerman ambulance transporting a patient to the hospital was involved in a collision Monday night in Newport, sending four people to Unity Health, officials said.
The Tuckerman Fire Department & Volunteer Ambulance Service said in a statement that the crash occurred as the ambulance was carrying a patient to the emergency room. The department asked the public to keep its firefighter, EMT, the patient, and others involved in their thoughts. No names or conditions were released.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Newport Fire EMS, Diaz Fire Department, Southern EMS, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and police departments from Diaz, Newport, and Tuckerman. Newport Mayor Derrick Ratliffe also assisted at the scene and at the hospital, officials said.
The cause of the collision was not immediately released. The department expressed gratitude to all responding agencies for their support.
