Students, faculty and community members at Lyon College will get the chance to swing sledgehammers for a cause on Wednesday as Kappa Sigma hosts its “Car Smash for Charity” to support military veterans and their families.
The event, set to begin at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Edwards Commons at 2300 Highland Road, invites participants to purchase tools and take a swing at donated vehicles. All proceeds will benefit the Military Heroes Campaign, which provides assistance to armed forces veterans and their families across the United States and Canada.
Kappa Sigma organizers said the fundraiser blends student leadership and community engagement with an unconventional approach to raising money for a cause that resonates widely on campus. The event is also expected to provide strong visual opportunities, with students and supporters lining up to chip away at the vehicles throughout the day.
