Obituary: Lester “Shannon” Patterson

Lester “Shannon” Patterson, 50, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was born June 4, 1975, in Newport, Arkansas, to Gary Don and Ruth Ann (Wilson) Patterson. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Clifford and Novie Patterson, and Lester and Emogene Wilson.

Shannon proudly dedicated 30 years of service to his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was deeply respected for his unwavering work ethic, strong leadership, and genuine devotion to the soldiers he served alongside. His career was a true calling—one he embraced with honour, commitment, and pride.

Outside of his military service, Shannon lived life with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. He loved riding motorcycles, collecting vehicles, and staying active through weightlifting. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of a good meal and was especially fond of visiting Five Guys Burgers, Sonic, and TCBY.

Shannon will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and passion for the things he loved most. His family, friends, and those who served with him will carry his memory with deep respect and enduring affection.

Shannon is survived by his mother; Ruth Ann Patterson of Tupelo, one sister; Melissa Crabtree and husband Tim of Branson, MO, one nephew; Zack Barker of Branson, MO,  a great nephew; Tripp Barker of Newport, two uncles; Jimmy Patterson and wife Sandra of Augusta, Albert Patterson of Augusta, best friends; Chuck Hill and wife Elaine of Newport, Jonathan Piker and wife Amy of Newport.

Pallbearers will be: Chuck Hill, Chris Watkins, Jimmy Patterson, Albert Patterson, Brian Alumbaugh, and Scott Barker.  Honorary Pallbearers are: Jonathan Piker, Alan Fisher, Jerry Adams, David Murphy, Burl Dean Alumbaugh, and the Class of 1993.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 3, 2025, with burial in Sandhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the service time.
