Obituary: Marie Hix

Marie Hix, age 95, passed away on December 5, 2025, in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born on January 2, 1930, to Claude and Justina Haddock Simpson in Gainsboro, Arkansas. Marie was Valedictorian of her senior class at Charlotte, Arkansas. She married Charley Hix on April 10, 1948, the same week she graduated. They were married for more than 68 years. She was a beautician for 20 years. She was recruited into Mary Kay Cosmetics in 1980 and became a director the same year. Her career spanned 35 years at Mary Kay.

She was a member of North Heights Church of Christ for more than 46 years. Marie loved her church family dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Hix; her parents, Claude and Justina Simpson; two brothers, Hurbert Simpson and Gene Simpson, all of Batesville; two sisters, Pearl Lockamy of Michigan and Maca Daniel of Washington. She was also preceded in death by her special friend, Claudia Clem.

Survivors include her three sons, Steve Hix and wife, Carol of Little Rock, Arkansas, Dennis Hix and wife, Betty of Greenwood, Arkansas and Charley Hix, Jr. and wife, Pam of Batesville, Arkansas; a sister, Bertha Rounds of Batesville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Hardin and Courtney Martinez of Little Rock, Jordan Hix of Connecticut, Jonathan Hix of Batesville, Brandon Hix of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Brittany Hix of Tulsa, Oklahoma; ten great-grandchildren, John Ostie, Graham, Lincoln, and Caroline Martinez of Little Rock, Hudson, Jude and Nolan Hix of Connecticut, Bailey Hix of Oklahoma, Payton and Greyson Moser of Batesville and a host of nieces and nephews and two special friends, Sharon Ward and Carolyn Watkins of Batesville.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jordon, Jonathan and Brandon Hix; great-grandson, John Ostie; nephews, Greg Simpson and David Rounds. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of North Heights Church of Christ. Officiating will be Dr. Ed Myers, Matthew Martin and Alex Mills.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm at North Heights Church of Christ on Monday, December 8th, followed by the funeral service. Arrangements will be by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lee’s Chapel Cemetery at Moorefield.
