Betty Jean Hinton Wright, age 87, passed from this world at 6:45 AM on December 2, 2025.

She was born in Louisiana. She moved to Cotter, Arkansas, in 1938. Raised in the Cotter and Batesville areas with a brother and two sisters, her father worked with the railroad. After graduating from Batesville High School as the Salutatorian in 1956, Betty entered the Navy as a Wave, where she met her 1st husband. With him, Betty traveled the world and raised 6 children.

Later in life, Betty became more than a “Mom”; she also became a professional legal secretary. She found and married “the love of her life”, John R. Wright, who was a former Batesville classmate and who is a retired chemistry professor.

Betty will be received in heaven by her parents, George and May Hinton, her brother Harvey Hinton, and her sisters, Maxine Vining and Janet Hinton. Also, one son, Robert D. Herring, two daughters, Rochelle Herring, Robbie Kulz, and one great-grandson, Jasper Fields.

Betty is survived by her current husband, John “Ricky” Wright, two sons, Roland Herring and Richard Herring, his wife Donna of Florida, son-in-law, Todd Kulz also of Florida, one daughter, Rowena Eicher and her husband, Kendall of Colorado. One granddaughter, Jennifer Riley and her husband Darren, and five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alisha, Austin, Tyler and Dalton, all of Colorado. Also, many nieces and nephews.

To those of us who knew and loved Betty will miss her greatly! We are blessed to have known her and are celebrating her life and remembering that she is now in a better place with the ones she loves and no longer in pain.
