Obituary: Frank Louis Roddy, Sr.

Frank Louis Roddy, Sr., age 71, of Newport, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025. Born in Newport, Arkansas, on January 6, 1954, Frank was the cherished son of Joe Louis Roddy and Georgia T. (Clay) Roddy. A proud graduate of Newport High School, class of 1973, Frank spent his life dedicated to family, work, and the outdoors.
Frank worked for the City of Newport for 35 years, where his commitment and work ethic were admired by colleagues and friends alike. Whether at work or at home, Frank was always busy, finding joy in every project and task. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and embraced every opportunity to be outside.

A passionate sports fan, Frank was especially fond of football and cheered for the Baltimore Ravens with unwavering enthusiasm. His love for sports was matched only by his love for his family and friends. Frank was married to his beloved wife, Pansy Roddy, for thirty wonderful years, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and companionship.

Frank was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. His kindness, generosity, and warm spirit touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and the entire Newport community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jerell Alcorn; his brother, Joe Roddy Jr.; his sister, Anna Joe Roddy; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alex Lewis and Thelma Wesson Alcorn; his niece, Khandi Roddy and his nephew, Brian Roddy.

He is survived by his wife Pansy Roddy of the home; his sons, Marcus Alcorn of Newport, Darrell Alcorn of Batesville, and Frank Roddy Jr. of Newport; his daughters, Ruby Tucker (Michael) of Tuckerman and Shemeka Alcorn of Newport; his sisters, Josephine Taylor of Newport, Betty Woodruff of Newport, Tammy D. Roddy of Newport, Verlene Reed of Newport and Stella Roddy of Newport; his sister-in-law, Janice Matthew of Searcy; his brothers-in-law, Mark Gant of Augusta and Alex Alcorn Jr. of Newport; his grandchildren, Marquail Alcorn, Elijah Alcorn, Kimeron Alcorn, Kagen Alcorn, Cannon Alcorn, Khami Alcorn, Anaya Alcorn, Ma’Riyah Roddy, Trayvon Scott, Jayden Scott, Nicholas Murphy, Ella Barger and Dai’Zheaunna Crite; his great grandchild, Nicholas Murphy Jr.; and a lifetime of other family and friends.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Alex Alcorn Jr., Antonio Gant, Kenneth Tripp, Freddie Vance, Terrance Gant, and Demetrius Nelson.  Honorary pallbearers are Marcus Alcorn, Darall Alcorn, Frank Roddy Jr., Timothy Rucker, Adrian Roddy, Nicholas Murphy, Elijah Alcon, Pedrick Roddy and La’Darron Roddy.

Service will be at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 on January 3, 2026, with Brother Marvin Alcorn officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
