Police in Batesville arrested a 37-year-old man after forcing entry into a home and struggling with him while serving a felony warrant, authorities said.
Cody Glynn Mask was taken into custody Dec. 21 after officers went to a residence in the 2000 block of East Boswell Street to serve an active felony warrant issued by the Independence County Sheriff’s Department for aggravated assault and second-degree battery, according to the affidavit for probable cause.
Police said Mask refused repeated lawful commands to exit the residence after officers identified him and informed him of the warrant. Authorities said Mask shut and locked the door and yelled that officers did not have a warrant. Because the warrant involved a violent felony and Mask had barricaded himself inside, officers forced entry, police said.
After entering the home, officers reported that Mask resisted arrest and had to be restrained using physical control techniques. Police said Mask later became belligerent inside a patrol vehicle, kicking and headbutting the compartment. During the struggle, authorities said Mask kicked an officer in the chest, struck him with his head, and attempted to bite him. An officer suffered a minor injury.
Mask was transported to the Independence County Jail and placed in a detox holding cell. Police said he made threatening statements toward an officer during transport.
Mask faces one count of resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor, and one count of second-degree battery, a Class D felony. His bond was set at $50,000.
