
Sheila Kay Reid, 72, of Indian Land, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on December 18, 2025.
Sheila was born on December 16, 1953, in Dothan, Alabama, to the late Alton McAlister and Ruby Seay McAlister. Before settling in South Carolina, she made her home in several states throughout her life, including Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio.
Sheila was married to her beloved husband, Mike Reid, for 41 years until his passing in 2014. Together, they built a life centered on family, compassion, and service to others.
An avid reader, Sheila especially cherished reading with her children and grandchildren, sharing both stories and time together. She devoted much of her adult life to working with charitable organizations, reflecting her generous spirit and deep care for others. Sheila found great joy in being with family and friends; she was known for her warm smile, hearty laughter, and love of gatherings with those closest to her. She also dearly loved the family dog, Penny.
Sheila is survived by her son, Chris Reid; daughter-in-law, Crystal Reid; grandchildren, Nolan and Lauren Reid; and her brother, Dickey McAlister of Alabama. In addition to her parents and her husband, Sheila was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Reid, who passed away in 2002, and her sisters, Sue, Nell, Betty, Anne, and Sandra.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation for Sheila will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. all at Heritage Funeral Home – Weddington Chapel. Burial will follow with Sheila being laid to rest next to her husband and daughter.
