
A Newark man was killed early Saturday in a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 14 East at Marcella in Stone County, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.
Kenneth C. Cordell, 36, was driving a 2014 Buick eastbound around midnight when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, ran off the road, and struck a stump, causing the vehicle to overturn, the report said. Cordell, the only occupant, died at the scene.
The crash occurred on Dec. 27 near Marcella, and weather and road conditions at the time were described as clear and dry, according to the report.
