Obituary: Randy David Long

Randy David Long, 72, of Mountain View, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at his home. He was bornon  October 6, 1953, in Batesville, Arkansas, to Harmon Hayden and Jewell (Pogue) Long.

He married Brinda Stewart in 1973 and they enjoyed fifty-two years of marriage together. They had three children: Holly, Matt, and Rusty.

He was a 1972 graduate of Mountain View High School and received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Andersonville Baptist Seminary in 1995.
Randy accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1965 at First Baptist Church in Mountain View. He has been a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church for the past 52 years. He loved the Lord and surrendered to preach in early 1981, was ordained shortly after, and has been the pastor of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church for the past 44 years.
Randy spent most of his years farming chickens and cattle. He was a member of the Mountain View Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. Coaching his boys’ T-Ball, Peewee, and Little League baseball teams for many years was something he enjoyed. He especially loved being in God’s creation while hunting, fishing, and camping. Later in life, he restored a 1971 Mach 1 Mustang to be identical to the first car he had when he was 16. He took a lot of joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids in their activities.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother, Larry, his infant daughter, Holly, his mother-in-law, Nada Stewart, his father-in-law, Joe Stewart, his niece, Amanda Kemp, his brother-in-law, Don Kemp, and his brother-in-law, Glenn Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Brinda, of the home; sisters Betty Williams of Mountain View and Nora Kemp of Vilonia; sons Matt (Tonya) and Rusty (Mary Ann) and grandchildren, Haley, Hayden, Kiley, Kassidy, Chloe, and Grant all of Mountain View; three nieces, one nephew, and several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services are Monday, December 29, 2025, at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas at 10:00 AM with Matt Long, Dylan Stewart, and Toby Crymes officiating. Interment will follow the service at Big Springs Cemetery in Newnata, Arkansas.

Pallbearers: Dustin Stewart, Dylan Stewart, Gary Williams, Andy Williams, Clint Rose, Jason Goodman, and Brent Thornsberry. Honorary pallbearers: Terry Stewart, Dwain Crymes, and members of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church.
