Obituary: Elva Ruth Harris

Elva Ruth Harris, 79, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at the Blossoms Nursing Home. She was born on June 19, 1946, in Marked Tree, Arkansas, to Elton and Eva Mae (Kirby) Harris.

Ruth was a Christian of the Baptist faith and a member of Flatwoods Baptist Church. Above all else, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. She also found great joy in animals, especially her beloved horse, Prince. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, drawing, riding bikes, and listening to old music on her record player. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Eva Mae Harris; three brothers, Jack Harris, Charles Harris, and Ed Harris; one brother-in-law, Eddie Vinson; and one sister-in-law, Pat Harris.

Those left to cherish her memory include three siblings, Bobby (Pat) Harris of Marked Tree, Arkansas, Paul Harris of Mountain View, Arkansas, and Dianne Vinson of Mountain View, Arkansas; her lifelong companion of more than forty years, Jerry Stits of Mountain View, Arkansas; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Harris of Payneway, Arkansas. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Brother Gary Don Fletcher officiating. Interment will take place at Levisy Flat Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Destry Gill, Jake Gill, Jonathon James, Chris Kent, Keaden Gill, and Dylan Harris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Harris, Kevin Harris, Casey Harris, Coleman Rodgers, and Michael Patrick.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Mountain View Funeral Service.
