Betty Jean Huff, 82, of Batesville, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in Batesville. Born July 2, 1943, in Batesville to Claude and Lillie Fulbright, Betty lived a life marked by faith, service, and a personality that could not be ignored.
An attendee of Believer’s Community Church, Betty was a devoted Senior Nutrition Coordinator at the Independence County Senior Center and a proud foster grandparent. She had a sharp wit, a strong opinion (which she wasn’t shy about sharing), and a heart that ran deep for those she loved. Betty enjoyed reading, cooking, games, needlepoint, and animals—but most of all, she enjoyed people… especially if she could make them laugh or keep them in line.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Billie Fulbright.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie Huff Burns (Billy) and Jeannie Burks (Tony); her brother, Thomas Fulbright (Linda); her sister, Valena Womack (Gary); four grandchildren, Brandie Cartwright (Daniel), Kelsey Orrick (Jaret), Will Burns (Whitney) and Haylee Burns; six great-grandchildren, Bobby, Cholie, Lillie, Callie, Charlotte, and Adalynn; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who were blessed (and occasionally kept on their toes) by Betty’s presence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Believer’s Community Church in Batesville, with Bro. David and Joe Insell are officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Cushman.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel.
