The city of Grubbs is offering a $500 reward for help finding a major water leak that officials say has drained a swimming-pool-sized amount of water every day for the past two months.
Mayor Candace Miller said the source of the leak has eluded city crews despite weeks of searching. The leak is costing the city significant money, she said, even though residents have not reported widespread drops in water pressure.
Officials believe the problem may involve a 1½-inch pipe carrying around 50 pounds of pressure, possibly from a blow-off valve or a damaged 2-inch main. Miller said the city is continuing its search and is asking residents to keep watch for wet ground, running water or other signs of a break.
The city will pay the reward to the person who locates the leak.
