Ricky D. Gilmore of Swifton, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of 71. He was born March 29, 1954, in Swifton, the son of Boyce Lee “Blackie” and Lola C. (Rogers) Gilmore.
Ricky worked for many years at Arkansas Steel Associates until his retirement. He dedicated himself to providing a good life for his daughters, teaching them valuable life lessons along the way. His daughters, Cali and Caitlin, were raised by a hardworking man whom they knew to be a great dad.
Ricky was a jokester, often playful and truly unforgettable. He enjoyed cooking for people, laughing, and having fun. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He loved tending to his mules, with Moe being his favorite. Most of all, he cherished his grandkids. Ricky was very proud of them and treasured every moment spent playing with them and teaching them the many things he knew.
The world will be a quieter, dimmer place without his energetic presence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Blackie and Lola Gilmore.
Ricky is survived by his daughters, Cali Gilmore Green and husband, B.J. of Swifton, and Caitlin Gilmore and her sidekick (as her dad referred to him), Oscar of Batesville; five grandchildren, Clara, Lola Faye, Jack, Maverick, and Hazel; his wife, Nancy (Guthrie) Gilmore; his siblings; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
In accordance with Ricky’s wishes, his family will hold private memorial services at a later date.
Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
