Community members and first responders will brave icy water later this month during the 2026 Batesville Polar Plunge, a fundraising event supporting Special Olympics Arkansas.
The event, themed “It’s Giving…Glacial,” is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Batesville Aquatics Center’s outdoor pool. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with participants plunging into the water at 11 a.m.
The cost to participate is $50. All registered Polar Plungers will receive a T-shirt, and participants may compete for cash prizes based on the amount of money they raise.
Participants can create a fundraising page at specialolympicsarkansas.org by clicking on the Polar Plunge tab and selecting Batesville. Those who prefer not to register online may sign up and collect donations in person at the event.
Proceeds from the Batesville Polar Plunge benefit Special Olympics athletes and coaches from Independence, Cleburne, Sharp, Izard, Fulton, and Stone counties, as well as the 19,500 athletes statewide who participate in Special Olympics Arkansas.
