Don Vincent ”Vince” Gay, 76, of Batesville, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026.
He was born July 5, 1949 in Batesville to Donval and Avis (Wood) Gay.
Vince served on the Southside City Council and the organization committee for the City of Southside and encouraged Ray Bowman to run for mayor. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and raising dogs, and he faithfully led congregational singing at church. Vince deeply loved his wife, children, and grandchildren, and he especially cherished time spent together at family gatherings. Above all, Vince put God first in everything he did.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila (Wammack) Gay of the home; one son, Brandon Gay of Springfield, Missouri; three daughters, Debra Wycough (Blake) of Salado, Stacy Fields (Austin) of Southside, and Jeri Johnson (Greg) of Tontitown; two brothers, Scott Gay (Donna) of Pleasant Plains, and Clay Gay of Batesville; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one niece, several nephews and a host of friends that will miss him greatly.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers are Blake Wycough, Austin Fields, Greg Johnson, Cason Wycough, Tyler Fields, Grayden Fields, Jeff Richardson, and Hunter Priest. Honorary pallbearers are Wade Gay, Ronnie Gay, Wayne Gay, Daniel Scott, and Joe Qualls.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Hagar and Rev. Bob Dailey officiating. Burial will follow at Egner Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
