Obituary: Jim Reid

Jim Reid, 78, of Cave City, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Cave City. He was born on November 8, 1947, in Gassville, Arkansas, to Herman and Lillian Reid. He served 3 years in the United States Army. He also served in the National Guard in Heber Springs. He retired from the Soil Conservation Service after serving from 1973 to 2003. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cave City. Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and all things outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walt Reid and John Reid; and one sister, Susan Reid.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Reid of the home; one daughter, Shelly Simmons (Jonathan) of Cave City; one sister, Sara Hodges (Mike) of Kansas City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Lauren Simmons and Mason Simmons; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cave City with Bro. Ron Canard officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cave City.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the church.

Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Homes.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Simmons, Mason Simmons, Will Jones, Eddie Walling, Justin Meskimens and Robert Brockway.

Honorary pallbearers are Steve Hampton, Donnie Seats, Joe Robertson, Donald Simmons, Jim Knight, James Woods and Mitch Wright.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cave City or a charity of your choice.
