A man was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after being shot at a residence in Independence County, authorities said.
In a statement, the Independence County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 1:27 p.m. to a home on Lindsey Circle off Heber Springs Road following a report of a male subject who had been shot. When deputies arrived, they found the victim receiving treatment from an off-duty officer.
The man was transported to a local hospital for further medical care. His condition was not released.
Investigators identified a person of interest, who was located and taken into custody. Authorities said the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information.
