Paul Monroe Slagley, 61, of Cash, peacefully passed from this life on March 4, 2026. Born on July 31, 1964, in Newport to Johnny William Slagley and Mae Anita (Fortenberry) Slagley, Paul was raised with a spirit of adventure and a deep love for the outdoors that would shape his days. He found great joy in fishing local rivers and lakes, patiently waiting for a bite and enjoying the quiet moments that nature provided. He shared his fresh catches with friends and family, showing his fish cooking skills, often at family gatherings filled with laughter and stories. His green thumb was evident in the pride he took working in his yard, tending flower beds and neat rows of vegetables. Paul’s admiration for animals was unmistakable—he loved caring for his flock of chickens and was rarely seen without a loyal dog by his side on his daily walks.

A man of many talents, Paul worked as both a carpenter and a police officer during his life, bringing dedication and integrity to each calling. His hands built and repaired, his presence offered protection and service to his community.

He is survived by his wife, Starla and Cameryn of the home; his son, Logan Slagley of Hoxie; his mother-in-law, Virginia Decker of Swifton; his brother-in-law, Anthony Decker (Dena) of Swifton; his brothers, Roger Slagley (Janice) of Walnut Ridge, Billy Slagley (Donna) of Jonesboro, and Rickey Slagley of Michigan; his sisters, Barbara Lucy (Wayne) of Swifton, Lana Black (Don) of Swifton, and Patti Hazelip (Doug) of Diaz; his grandchildren, Langston Slagley, Leland Slagley, Lanley Cole, Lesia Cole, and Laken Cole; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, David Decker; his daughter, Morgan Cassandra Slagley; his brothers, Johnny Slagley, Steven Slagley, Kevin Slagley, and sisters, Shirley Slagley and Brenda Tate.

Paul was known for his generous heart and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. He cherished spending time with family and his special friends, John Cockran, Ken Boling, Dan Walker, and Brandon Walker, sharing stories and laughter. Paul’s legacy of kindness and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Austin Slagley, Drake Slagley, Leland Slagley, Will Tate, James Thompson, and Curtis Neeley.  Honorary pallbearers are John Coffman, Ken Boling, Dan Walker, Brandon Walker and Anthony Decker.
