Obituary: Ivone (Catterlin) Sauseda

Ivone (Catterlin) Sauseda, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, in Jonesboro at the age of 87. Born on August 13, 1938, in Oil Trough, Arkansas, to Otha and Alpha (Anderson) Catterlin.  Ivone was the heart of her family, always ready with a warm hug, a listening ear, or encouraging words. Her gentle smile and caring spirit uplifted everyone around her, and she was known for her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Throughout her life, Ivone’s home was a welcoming place where laughter rang, stories were shared, and all were treated like family.

Ivone was known for her warm heart and adventurous spirit. She found happiness in fishing, dancing, shopping, and especially in the company of her family and friends. Her greatest joys came from the time she spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, whose laughter and stories brought her endless delight.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ann Walls; and her grandson, Brian Bumpous. Ivone’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind: her children, Katherine Dobbs of Newport, James “Stud” Matthews (Kay Bowen) of Newport, Marcelino Sauseda Jr. (Anna) of Newport, and Tony Sauseda (Olga) of Bryan, Texas; her sister, Brenda Bridgeman of Newport; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Ivone will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her memory will live on through the lives she touched and the stories shared by those who loved her most.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Marcelino Sauseda Jr., Edgar Cruz, Brat Burleson.  Honorary pallbearers are James “Stud” Matthews and Adam Pacheco.

Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with Sammy Bennett officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026.
