Wanda Duene McCarty, 97, of Mountain View, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at The Blossoms Nursing Home in Mountain View. She was born August 29, 1928, in Heber Springs, Arkansas, to W.O. and Lucy (Nored) Verser.
Duene was a Christian of the Baptist faith and a member of Arbanna Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She married Claud McCarty on June 12, 1947, and they shared sixty-four years together before Claud passed away on June 29, 2011.
Duene enjoyed going to church, gardening, canning, hand quilting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.O. and Lucy Verser; her husband, Claud McCarty; her son, Doug McCarty; her sister, Rexalee Stone; her brother, W.O. Verser Jr.; five brothers-in-law, Theo Wells, Lyle Clark, Loy Wells, Bill Stanley, and Bobby Elrod; three sisters-in-law, Maxine Clark, Evalene Wells, and Wincie Wells; and her son-in-law, Bob Harrington.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kay Harrington; her two sisters, Gail Stanley and Fay (Lynn) Ernst; her six grandchildren, Heather (Dan) Stevens, Megan Sanders, Miles (Amanda) McCarty, Rae Ann McCarty, Josh McCarty, and Kyle (LeeAnn) McCarty; and her brother-in-law, Leo (Dixie) Stone. She is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at Friendship Cemetery in Drasco, Arkansas, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Brother Glen Swafford will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Kyle McCarty, Devin Storey, Dan Stevens, Randy Whitaker, Adrian Fossler, and Zach Stevens.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Mountain View Funeral Service.
