James Gordon Davis, 65 of Harrisburg, Arkansas, departed this life peacefully at his home on Friday, 13, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 24, 1960, the son of George Samuel and Constance (Pagan) Davis.
James was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters: Jimmy Dale Davis, Patricia Orr, Charles Davis, Tommy Davis, Inez Hayes, Doris Jean Davis, Wilma Faye Davis, Leon Davis, and his parents, known as Connie and Sam Davis.
James was a diesel mechanic his whole life, starting at 19 at MDR in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He eventually retired in 2024 from Timmons Trucking Company in Jonesboro. James was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. James met and married the love of his life, Rhonda Woodward, in 1993. They, along with five kids they shared, made 33 years of wonderful memories. James enjoyed many years of stock car racing, alongside his brother, Jimmy, at Crowley’s Ridge Raceway. He enjoyed camping at the river and spending time with his friends and family. He had several friends from River Bend that he thought of as family, including Frankie and Darlene Thrasher along with others.
James is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda of 33 years, 5 children: Carl (Stephanie) Williams of Thayer, Missouri, Dawn (Danny) Knapp of Lees Summit, Missouri, Stephanie (Timothy) Bell of Willford, Arkansas, Amanda Buckley of Harrisburg, Arkansas, Samantha Jones also of Harrisburg, Arkansas, 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and sisters: Mary (Bill) Loucks of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, Cathy Anderson of Jonesboro, AR, Kay Gambill of Jonesboro, AR, Sue (Kenny) Sharp of Brookland, AR.
The family will hold a Memorial Service at a later date.
Cremation has been chosen as the final disposition. Arrangements are by Jackson’s Funeral Home.
