Veston “Dewain” Martin, 82, of Jonesboro, departed this life on March 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the many memories he created throughout a life well lived.
He was born May 9, 1943, in Onia, Arkansas, to Herman James Martin and Edith (Richey) Martin. Raised with strong values of faith, hard work, and dedication, Dewain carried those principles with him throughout his life. He spent many years working as a factory worker, where he was respected for his dependability and quiet determination. In addition to his factory work, he also found fulfillment as a painter, taking pride in his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
A faithful member of Cash Assembly of God Church, Dewain’s life reflected his deep-rooted faith. He believed in living simply, treating others with kindness, and always lending a helping hand when it was needed. His church and community were important parts of his life, and he formed many lasting friendships through his years of fellowship.
Dewain had a special love for woodworking, a hobby that brought him both peace and purpose. Whether building something useful or crafting a piece to share with someone he loved, he found joy in working with his hands. He was rarely idle and took great satisfaction in creating, fixing, and improving things around him.
Above all else, Dewain was devoted to his family. He shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sherry Martin, a partnership built on love, loyalty, and unwavering support. He was a proud father, a caring brother, and a loving uncle. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in each of them.
Those who knew Dewain will remember his steady presence, his gentle nature, and his willingness to listen. He was a man of few words at times, but his actions spoke volumes. He valued honesty, hard work, and treating people right, leaving behind a legacy that will live on through those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
