Obituary:  Harold Gene Odom, Sr.

Harold Gene Odom, Sr., of Sulphur Rock, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the age of 72. He was born on August 18, 1953, in Denton Island, the son of William and Opal (Keller) Odom.

Mr. Odom proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army. After returning home, Mr. Odom went to work as a Caster at Arkansas Steel Associates. He was a hardworking and dependable employee, remaining dedicated to his job until his retirement in 2008. Mr. Odom was a devoted member of the Center Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Odom was an avid outdoorsman who truly loved hunting and fishing.

Mr. Odom was preceded in death by his three brothers, Billy Odom, Chuck Odom, and James Keller; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Louise (Lee) Burgess Odom, of the home; his son, Harold Gene Odom, Jr. and wife, Kathryn, of Tuckerman; a daughter, Elizabeth “Codie” Odom, of Newport; three step-daughters, Michele Boone of La Paz, Indiana, Terri Thompson of Sulphur Rock, and Jerri Caldwell and husband, Jonathan, of La Porte, Indiana; six grandchildren, Grace, Harold III, Miriam, Jenna Grace, Coy, and Grayson; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Per Mr. Odom’s wishes, there are no services planned.
