Obituary: Bridget Leann Hendrix

Bridget Leann Hendrix, age 57, of Edgemont, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on April 6, 2026. Born in Newport on May 15, 1968, she was the cherished daughter of Clifford Angus and Alva Jean (Knight) Hendrix.

Bridget grew up in Newport, where she cultivated her love for sports and community. She graduated from Newport High School and went on to honorably serve her country in the United States Army. Her sense of duty and patriotism shaped her lifelong commitment to service.

A devoted member of Tuckerman Assembly of God, Bridget found great strength and comfort in her faith. She was known for her saying, “nothing can separate me from the love of God”, and her genuine compassion and willingness to lend a hand to those in need.

Bridget enjoyed a distinguished career in law enforcement, earning the respect of her colleagues for her integrity, courage, and dedication. After retiring, she continued to serve her community as the victims of violent crimes coordinator for the first judicial district, tirelessly advocating for justice and support for survivors across several counties in Arkansas. Her empathy and guidance were a beacon to many navigating difficult times.

Outside her professional life, Bridget was an avid sports enthusiast. While cheering from the sidelines, she inspired those around her with her enthusiasm and spirit. She treasured family and friends’ gatherings, shared laughter, and created memorable traditions that will be carried forward by those who loved her.

Bridget is remembered for her unwavering strength, heartfelt generosity, and the lasting impact she made on her family, friends, and the Newport community.  She leaves behind a legacy rooted in faith, service, and love—a life of meaning, purpose, and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Vernon and Agnes (Swann) Hendrix and Alvie and Knoxie (Gates) Knight; and her nephew, Devan Hendrix.

She is survived by her sister, Rhonda (Hendrix) Pounders; her brothers, Clifford Hendrix (Summer) of Newport and Marcus Hendrix (Crystal) of Newport; her nieces and nephews, Coty Hendrix (Elaysha) of Tuckerman, Darian Pounders (Jennifer) of North Little Rock, Alex Hendrix of Jonesboro, Jimmy Ray Hendrix (Julissa) of Newport, Christiane Loftin (Stephen) of Jonesboro, Brayden Hendrix (Pheobe) of Colorado, Skyla George of Batesville, Cheyenne Sullins (Chris) of Newport, Adrian Lloyd (Colby) of Newport, Linsey Hendrix of Indiana, Josiah Neeley of Weiner, and several great nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Marcus Hendrix, Cody Hendrix, Clifford Hendrix, Allen Edwards, Alex Binkley, Nicole Green, Angie Grigsby, and Chrystal Grigsby.  Honorary pallbearers are Sonya Mauldin, Shelia Jones, Greg and Dena Wolverton, Cindy Roberts, Kim McCartney, and Darian Pounders.

Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Brandon Gates officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, April 17, 2026, from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Gracelawn Cemetery.
