Bobby Jean Mitchell, Sr., of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on August 5, 1943, in Tuckerman, the son of Ernest “Pat” and Ora (Linvell) Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell spent many years doing factory work at Brown Jordan. He was a Christian believer.
Mr. Mitchell was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He cherished all the memories made and time spent with them. He also enjoyed buying and trading vehicles.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his brothers, J.O. Mitchell, Earnest Mitchell, Jr., and Larry Wayne Mitchell; his sisters, Shirley Stone, and infant Mildred Lois Mitchell; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa (Eversoll) Mitchell, of the home; two sons, Bobby Mitchell, Jr. and Tony Mitchell and wife, Jodi, all of whom are of Newport; three grandchildren, Rodney Lockhart, Jr., Courtney Koller and husband, Dalton, and Megan Lockhart; four great-grandchildren, Drayden, Revel, Aubrey, and Rodney, III.; a host of nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Services for Mr. Mitchell will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. David Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in Cheshier Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon, beginning at 12:30 p.m. until service time.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Dalton Koller, Courtney Koller, Megan Lockhart, and Rodney Lockhart, III. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Mitchell, Bobby Mitchell, Jr., and Rickey Mitchell.
