Edna (Mitchell) Stewart, 92, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on April 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on September 18, 1933, in Allison, Arkansas, to Isaac and Elsie (Holt) Mitchell. Edna was a faithful and devoted member of the School Avenue Church of Christ, where her love for God was evident in the way she lived each day. She married Junious Stewart on June 18, 1981, and together they shared many happy and meaningful years.

Edna dedicated many years of service as the head of laundry at Stone County Medical Center before her retirement. She was a woman of many gifts and a servant’s heart. She found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life—sharing stories, teaching Bible classes to young children, and caring deeply for those around her. She read her Bible faithfully every day as long as she was able, and when she no longer could, she continued to nourish her faith by watching preaching on television.

Her hands were rarely still. Whether she was sewing, painting, cooking, or tending her garden, she put love into everything she did. She took pride in her home and created a place of warmth, comfort, and welcome for all who entered. Above all, Edna’s greatest joy was her family, whom she loved with her whole heart.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, E.G. Balentine and Junious Stewart; her brother, Ed Mitchell; her daughter, Karen Sue Conway; and her grandson, Shane Wade.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will continue to live on in those who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Pennie Balentine; her stepchildren, Dan (Patricia) Stewart, Becky (Bobby) Halpain, and Dee Sadler; and her grandchildren, Derek (Amber Dawn) Smith, Amber Jane Smith, Kimberly Sue Brewer, Zack (Casey) Stewart, Mike (Tammy) Everett, Keith (Sarah) Everett, Kim (Virgil) Treadway, Josh (Courtney) Halpain, and Jacob Halpain. She is also lovingly remembered by her many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of dear family members and friends.

Edna will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her gentle spirit, and the love she gave so freely. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Edna’s visitation was held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Roller Crouch Chapel from 10:00-11:00 AM. Funeral Service was on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Roller Crouch Chapel at 11:00 AM. Officiating was Chaplain Ron Helms. Interment at Fifty Six Cemetery, Fifty Six, Arkansas.
