Vina Beatrice (Fletcher) Fisher, 94, passed peacefully from this life on May 25, 2026. She was born March 25, 1932, in Newport, Arkansas, to Eleck Elmore and Jewel Warren Fletcher. After the loss of her mother at an early age, Vina was lovingly raised by her stepmother, Maude Fletcher, whose love and guidance helped shape the remarkable woman she became.
Vina lived a life marked by hard work, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. As a young woman, she worked at the Ben Franklin Store under Sam Walton before marrying and dedicating herself fully to her role as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Once her children were all school age, she returned to the workforce and spent 12 years employed at the Kickarena shoe factory. Never one to slow down, Vina later became a local Avon consultant and then, in her late 50s, she earned her CNA license. She then spent the next nine years as a private care nursing assistant, compassionately caring for others until her retirement.
At the age of eight, Vina was saved to the Glory of God in the Baptist church. Following her marriage, she faithfully worshiped alongside her husband and family at Holden Avenue Church of Christ in Newport. Her faith remained the foundation of her life and was reflected in the kindness, patience, and love she showed to everyone around her.
Vina found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening and canning the fruits of her labor, and she enjoyed spending weekends visiting flea markets in search of antiques and treasured pieces of carnival glass. She also had a creative spirit and delighted in making ceramics and pottery.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Marcus Butler Fisher; her parents, Eleck Elmore and Jewel Warren Fletcher; her beloved stepmother, Maude Fletcher; her daughter, Connie Gail Fisher Hagar; her son, Marcus Scott Fisher; her brothers, Knox Fletcher and John Fletcher; her sisters, Mauddie Pearl Fletcher and Hazel Fletcher; her son-in-law, Martin Olinger; two special sisters, Belva Hutchinson and Ima Nell Doyle; granddaughter-in-law, Misty Wilson.
