The fifth annual Bill Walmsley Classic Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 19 at Eagle Mountain Golf Course, with proceeds benefiting Lyon College student-athletes.
Lyon College Director of Athletics Kevin Jenkins and Athletics Media and Communications Director Max Wilf discussed the event during an appearance on Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ and 1340 KBTA with White River Now’s Chad Whiteaker. (Listen to their conversation below.)
The tournament honors Bill Walmsley, a longtime supporter of the college and the Batesville community.
“He’s been a mainstay here in our community,” Jenkins said, noting Walmsley’s commitment to both Lyon College and the surrounding area.
The event will be played in a four-person scramble format. Check-in begins at 9 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Activities will include closest-to-the-pin, long drive, putting and chipping contests. Fox Creek BBQ will provide lunch for participating golfers.
Registration is $650 per four-person team, and several hole and event sponsorship opportunities remain available. Proceeds will support Lyon College athletics and more than 400 student-athletes competing in 16 varsity sports.
“We’ve got a lot of kids that participate in sports and really do a great, great job of representing not only our institution, but also the local community,” Jenkins said.
Organizers said team spots remain available.
