Residents of Stone County and surrounding communities have expanded access to adult primary care services with the addition of an internal medicine physician at White River Health Family Care in Mountain View.
White River Health recently welcomed Dr. Merlin Mathew to White River Health Family Care in Mountain View. Mathew is accepting new and established patients and also will serve on the medical staff at Stone County Medical Center.
Internal medicine is a specialty focused on comprehensive primary care for adults. Internal medicine physicians are trained in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of illnesses and chronic diseases. They often care for patients with multiple or complex medical conditions and emphasize preventive care, long-term wellness and coordinated management of chronic health concerns such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and respiratory illnesses.
Mathew’s practice will focus on treating and managing complex and chronic conditions while helping patients achieve and maintain overall health and wellness.
Mathew earned her medical degree from the American University of Antigua and also holds a health care MBA from Urbana University and Franklin University. She completed an internal medicine internship at Richmond University Medical Center and a residency at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. She is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
