Mayor Nichole Bryant has resigned from her post effective immediately, according to a letter she submitted to city council members and residents on July 1.
In the letter, Bryant said the decision to step down “was not made lightly,” but that she believes it is in the best interest of both herself and the city. She did not cite a specific reason for her departure.
“Serving as Mayor has been an honor,” Bryant wrote. “I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me, the collaboration we have shared, and the dedication shown by the many residents who work every day to make our community stronger.”
Bryant said she hopes the city will continue moving forward “with integrity, stability, and a commitment to public service.”
The letter, addressed to council members and community residents, was signed by Bryant and thanked officials for the opportunity to serve.
