A Cave City truck driver navigated his way to the top of the podium, winning first place in the Tank class at the 2026 Arkansas Truck Driving Championship.
Marcus Rush, a professional driver for Walmart Transportation, topped a field of 151 competitors in the two-day event June 26-27 at the Rogers Convention Center. The competition, hosted by the Arkansas Trucking Association, tested drivers on pre-trip inspections, a written exam and driving skills.
“The Arkansas Truck Driving Championship is about much more than competition. It’s an opportunity to recognize the extraordinary skill, professionalism and unwavering commitment to safety that professional truck drivers bring to our highways every day,” said Shannon Newton, Arkansas Trucking Association president. “Every class champion has distinguished themselves among an exceptional field of competitors, and Marcus’ victory is a testament to the knowledge, precision and professionalism he demonstrates behind the wheel every day. We are proud to have him represent Arkansas at the National Truck Driving Championships.”
This marks the sixth time Rush has qualified to represent Arkansas at nationals. His resume includes a first-place finish in the 5-Axle division in 2007, three Flatbed division titles in 2008, 2009 and 2022, and last year’s Tank division win. Over his 28-year career, he has logged more than 3 million safe-driving miles.
Rush is one of nine Arkansas drivers headed to the National Truck Driving Championships, set for Aug. 11-14 in Pittsburgh. The event, hosted by the American Trucking Associations, recognizes the safest and most professional drivers on the nation’s highways.
