Lee Mirron Whidden

Our music was the whistles that will forever mark our family.

With profound sorrow and endless love,

We remember the life of Lee Mirron Whidden, better known as Poppy. A man whose strength, stubbornness, and intelligence were matched by few and challenged by none.

Forever cherished.

Deeply missed.

Lovingly remembered.

May he rest in eternal peace.

Lee Mirron Whidden was born to Luther and Gracie (Jones) Whidden at home in Independence County on March 24, 1947. He died at home in Mountain View, Arkansas, surrounded by his loving family, on July 16, 2026.

He was a member of the Highway 5 North Church of Christ. He was a devout follower of the Lord.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was in the US Army.

Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Pam Whidden. As well as daughters, Myra (Michael) Etchberry and Julie (Michael) Winkle. His beautiful grandchildren

Karen (Ryan) Thompson, Terry Harris, Mandy (Josh) Tilley, Liz Harrington, Michaela (Tyler) Bonds, and Dustin Winkle. And finally, his great-grandchildren, Gracie Hall, Alice Stanley, Paris Tilley, Aaron Wideman, London Tilley, Havana Tilley, and Paloma Bonds. His brother-in-law Bruce (Pat) Helms. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. As well as his beloved cat, Ali.

Preceded in death by his sister Vondean (Bill) Richardson, his brothers Luther Eugene Whidden and Lawrence (Carolyn) Whidden, as well as his nephew Jason Helms.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the HWY 5 North Church of Christ, Mountain View, from 1:00- 2:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the HWY 5 North Church of Christ, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at the Norrick Chapel Cemetery. Officiating will be Brother Steve Hentz and Brother Charles Hill. Pallbearers are Michael Echeberry, Josh Tilley, Michael Winkle, Bobby Halpain,  Josh Halpain, and Alice Stanley.

Honorary pallbearers are Dustin Winkle, Tyler Bonds, Keith Green, and Ryan Thompson.

Roller Crouch Funeral Home is in charge of this arrangement.
