Dianna Sue Fortenberry, of Tuckerman, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 81. She was born on May 5, 1945, the daughter of Elvis Fortenberry and Elsie Maye (Lindley) Fortenberry.
Sue Fortenberry was a graduate of Tuckerman High School. She dedicated 41 years to Southwestern Bell, starting her career as a telephone operator in Newport. It later became AT&T and her job title changed with various promotions. She also worked at Hobby Lobby on the weekends because she loved crafting.
Ms. Fortenberry was in a bowling league for many years. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, and reading. Ms. Fortenberry loved to spend time with her beloved nieces and nephews. However, she loved all babies. She would frequently stop strangers in the grocery store to admire their children. Another of her passions was gardening and she loved watermelon. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family. Sunday dinners and holiday meals together were some of her favorite times.
Ms. Fortenberry was of the Christian belief, having attended a Baptist church off and on throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Sharon Elaine Fortenberry and Mary Patrice Dewitt; and a great nephew, Alec, whom she helped raise, and a nephew, Barry Lynn Falwell Jr.
Ms. Fortenberry is survived by five sisters, Willie Jane Presson of Tontitown, Arkansas, Brenda Annette McCall, and husband, Tom, of San Ynez, California, and Kathryn Joann Hill, and husband, Jim, of Royal City, Washington; Wilma Ivonne Fallwell of Southside, and Melissa Renae Fortenberry of Tuckerman; her niece and two great nieces, whom she also helped to raise, Stephanie Fortenberry Collins and her daughters, Hannah Mae Fortenberry, and Apple Lynn Fortenberry, and a number of other nephews and nieces, as well as great nephews and great nieces.
Instead of formal services, family and friends will gather to pray and share some of their favorite stories involving Sue and deliver her ashes to her favorite places.
