Bernice Altman, 80, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Bernice was born Sunday, September 16, 1945, in Fifty Six, Arkansas to the late Lyle Franks and Lillie Cantrell Franks.
Bernice was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by hard work, faith, kindness, and dedication to her family and community. For 50 years, she and her husband worked side by side as entrepreneurs in the car dealership business, building not only a successful business but also lasting relationships with the people they served.
She was of the Christian faith and treasured her faith and her church family. In business and in life, she carried herself with a serious and professional nature, yet she was always friendly, helpful, and gracious to everyone she met. It would be difficult for anyone to say an unkind word about her. Her quiet strength, good character, and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Bernice was a devoted wife, a cherished family member, a trusted friend, and a respected member of her community. Her life was a beautiful example of integrity, perseverance, kindness, and faith. The many lives she touched through her family, church, business, friendships, and community will forever carry memories of her warmth and goodness.
Bernice will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church family, former customers, and the entire community. Though she is no longer with us, the legacy she leaves behind through her love, her work, her faith, and the countless lives she touched will live on for generations to come.
Bernice is survived by her children, Jeffery, Natalie, and Liz; one sister, Iva Brooks; one brother, Steve Franks; six grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Lillie Franks; brother, James Franks; and her husband, J.T. Altman.
A private family service will be held at another time.
Pallbearers are Mike Brooks, Steve Franks, Alex Franks, Jason Thieme, Lance Hankins and Gary Nelson.
