Verna Mae Rowland, 82, of Newport, Arkansas, passed from this life on Saturday, August 29, 2026. She was born on April 9, 1944, in Auvergne, Arkansas, to S.J. and Laverne (Robinson) Coat.
Verna was a hardworking and caring woman who spent many years working as a caretaker. She took pride in her work and was known for her dependable nature and the care she put into everything she did.
Those who knew Verna will remember her for the simple joys that brought happiness to her life. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking delicious meals for those she loved, watching her favorite soap operas, and spending time shopping. She also enjoyed fishing and could often be found trying her luck with a scratch-off lottery ticket. These hobbies were more than pastimes—they were moments that brought her joy and gave her opportunities to spend time with the people around her.
Verna was a devoted wife who cherished the life she shared with her husband, Charles.
