
Nancy Elise (Borchert) Combs of Tuckerman, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the age of 81. She was born July 6, 1942, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, the daughter of Carl William Borchert, Sr., and Marquerite Ann (McCool) Borchert.
She was a 1960 graduate of Stuttgart High School. She retired from the Arkansas Crime Information Center following 30 years of service. Mrs. Combs worked with the Women’s Home Demonstration Club and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, watching television, and especially spending time with her family.
She was a member of the Tuckerman First United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and loved attending the United Methodist Conference each year.
She was preceded in death by one son, James Paul Combs; one granddaughter, Brittany Romes; and her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Paul Combs of the home; two sons, Christopher Mark Krablin, Sr., and wife, Pam of Weatherford, Texas, and Steve Combs and wife, Lisa of Crocker, Missouri; five daughters, Elizabeth Ann Crawley and husband, Brian of Ward, Arkansas, Charlotte Jones of Jefferson City, Missouri, Paula Leard and husband, John of Collierville, Tennessee, Beverly Cole and husband, Mike of Modesto, California, and Deanna Smith and husband, Jason of Tuckerman; three brothers, Bill Borchert of Stuttgart, Don Borchert and wife, Janet, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Johnny Borchert and wife, Evelyn of Hensley, Arkansas; one sister, Ann McCollum of Gentry, Arkansas; sixteen grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Leon Combs of Newport, Robert Combs and wife, Wanda of Tuckerman; one sister-in-law, Melissia (Combs) Montgomery and husband, Marty of Swifton; special friends, Teddy and Carolyn Rhea, Dulane Crandall, Peytina Freer, Loretta Soden, and Barbara Fields; her cat, Sam; and many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 14, 2023, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday, at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Gracelawn Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Matthew Cole, Kyle Harrison, Jason Smith, Dylan Smith, Brandon Smith, Christopher Krablin, Jr., Nathaniel Combs, and Jacques Shorter.
Her Tuckerman United Methodist Sunday School Class members will serve as honorary pallbearers.
