A Searcy teenager remains in stable condition after being shot in the neck while driving late Saturday night, according to authorities.

Searcy Police responded around 11:30 p.m. on May 10 to what was initially reported as a single-vehicle accident. Before officers arrived, the caller updated dispatchers, stating that the driver — a juvenile — had been shot.

The teen was transported by NorthStar EMS to Unity Health–White County Medical Center and later transferred to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, where they continue to recover in stable condition.

During the investigation, officers discovered spent shell casings in the yard of a residence in the 1000 block of West Academy St., near the crash site. One suspect, initially identified as Edgar Gameros, 44, of Batesville, was taken into custody at the location. Two additional men were arrested on unrelated charges.

However, on May 12, 2025, the Searcy Police Department confirmed that fingerprint results revealed the suspect is not Edgar Gameros, but Candelario Gameros-Ante, age 45.

According to police, Gameros-Ante used Gameros’s social security card to obtain an Arkansas driver’s license and conceal his true identity, having been deported in 2017.
