
Maudalene (Stanbery) Michaels, lovingly known as Maudie, of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 99. She was born April 19, 1926, in Possum Grape, the daughter of Sherman Sheridan and Katie (Walls) Stanbery.
Mrs. Michaels was a dedicated professional who built a long and respected career at First National Bank. She began as a bank officer and later served faithfully as an administrative assistant to the bank president. Mrs. Michaels was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist church and was deeply committed to her faith and community. She taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Evelyn Rush Circle and the Methodist Women.
Mrs. Michaels was a gifted crafter. She loved creating needlepoint designs and crocheting. She also enjoyed making ceramics.
Mrs. Michaels was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Martin Michaels; a son, Ronald Joe Michaels; two brothers, Dallas Stanbery and Leroy Stanberry; her sisters, Pansy Razer and Lorena Razer; and her parents.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Lynn Michaels and Donald Ray Michaels, both of Newport, and her granddaughter, Heather Michelle Michaels, of California.
Graveside services for Mrs. Michaels will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Oakland Hill Cemetery.
