
Escaped inmate Grant Hardin has been captured, according to authorities.
Hardin was captured “approximately 1.5 miles west” of the North Central Unit in Calico Rock by law enforcement officials, according to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Little Rock news outlet KARK, Arkansas Department of Corrections Chairman Benny Magness said a specialized unit from the US Border Patrol helped locate Hardin in the woods.
Grant Matthew Hardin, 56, escaped from the North Central Unit, also known as Calico Rock Prison, on May 25.
Hardin had been incarcerated at the facility since 2017, serving a 30-year sentence for first-degree murder, in addition to a separate sentence for rape. Prior to his incarceration, Hardin served as the police chief of Gateway, Arkansas, and had a background in law enforcement.

According to a social media post from Stone County Sheriff Brandon Long, escaped inmate Grant Hardin has been captured.
Long’s post said Hardin had been captured at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, June 6.
Long said Hardin “has been apprehended, and the public is no longer in danger.”
