Obituary: Alice Melby

Alice Melby, 96, of Batesville, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025.

She was born November 20, 1928, in Springdale, Arkansas, to William and Edna Francis (Tillman) Hunt.

She was the commissioner of the Boy Scouts and was one of the oldest Scout leaders in the state. Alice loved her pets and had many over the years. She loved roses, laughing, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and making candy. Alice married the love of her life and spent 43 wonderful years together.

Survivors include her husband, David Paul Melby of the home; one son, David Hutchens of Batesville; three daughters, Carol Chandler of Winslow, Arkansas, Mary McLaughlin of Rosie, Arkansas, Cathy English of Batesville, Arkansas, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren with a host of extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Glenn Miller, and one daughter, Sharon Miller.

Pallbearers are David Hutchens, Tyler McLaughlin, Bryan Drake, and Jeremy Spohr.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:00 am at Kyler Cemetery in Southside.

Visitation will be held at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home from 8:30 am until 9:30 am prior to the service.
