Lu Edith (Brewer) Bannister, 70, of Smithville, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Lu was born on July 10, 1955, in Mountain View, Arkansas, to the late Joseph Lee Brewer and Lola Bea (Wilson) Brewer. Lu was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed flower gardening, word puzzles, quilting, crocheting, her beloved grandkids, daughters and bowling, where she acquired several trophies. Lu will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.
Lu is survived by her husband, Steve of 49 years; daughters, Betty Osburn and husband Andy, Karen Goodman and husband, Preston, and Bridget Cochran and husband, Clint; her grandchildren, James Osburn, Bradley Osburn and wife Asha, Sandy Osburn, Samera Goodman, Noah Cochran, Jacob Cochran, Jeremiah Cochran, and Nathan Cochran; great-grandchildren, Camilla Goodman and Ashtyn Osburn; brothers, Jimmy Brewer and wife Bonnie, and Vernon Brewer and wife Margie; as well as many extended family and friends.
Lu is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lee and Lola Bea (Wilson) Brewer and her brother Gary (Kathy) Brewer.
Visitation is Friday, September 12, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 PM with Brother Truman Bullard officiating. Interment will take place at Flatwoods Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas, following the service.
Pallbearers are Chris Brewer, Steve Brewer, Bradley Osburn, Clint Cochran, and Steve Bannister. Honorary pallbearer is Betty Osburn.
