Obituary: Rodger N. Overfield

Rodger N. Overfield of Amagon, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the age of 73. He was born in Newport on August 29, 1952, the son of Central Earl “Bill” and Ruby Estell (Daniels) Overfield.

Mr. Overfield was a graduate of Grubbs High School. He was one of fifteen children, which helped shape his strong work ethic. Mr. Overfield devoted thirty-seven years to Overfield & Lloyd Irrigation & Well Drilling, before his retirement. He was of the Baptist belief.

Outside of working and staying busy, Mr. Overfield enjoyed the outdoors. He loved going fishing and hunting, and tending to his garden. He also enjoyed watching westerns.

Mr. Overfield is preceded in death by three brothers, Charles “Bo” Overfield, Bobby Overfield, and Rickey Overfield; five sisters, Gracie Lee Brown, Donna London, Jane Higgins, Sue Greer, and Patsy Morgan; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Gaddis) Overfield, of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Overfield Bradley and husband, Robbie, of Tuckerman and Tracy Davis and husband, Tony, of Beedeville; and his grandchildren, Will Bradley of Tuckerman and Adhemar Hardy of Cherry Valley. Also surviving Mr. Overfield are his two brothers, Donald Overfield and wife, Sharron, of Afton, Wyoming and William “Butch” Overfield and wife, Rita, of Cody, Wyoming; four sisters, Jo Ann Priest of Cash, Glenda Browder and husband, William, of Manassas, Virginia, June Lloyd of Grubbs, and Sherry Trotter and husband, Joe, of Weiner; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Overfield will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2025, at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday evening, September 14, 2025, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Will Bradley, Robbie Bradley, Tony Davis, Adhemar Hardy, Seth Davis, and Matt Davis. Honorary pallbearers are David Birdsong, Scott Shelley, James Antilly, and Corey Trotter.
